Schematic overview of the investigated EV treatments and their potential effect on EVs and their cargos. Fraction one (1) contained untreated EVs from mock or CYP3RNA-sprayed barley leaves and caused fungal growth. Fraction two (2) contained EVs treated with proteinase K (PK) and RNase A (RA) to degrade extravesicular ribonuclear complexes. Fraction three (3) contained EVs dissolved with triton X-100 (TX) and their cargo was degraded by PK and RA treatment
