Xylanolytic and cellulolytic activity of TXYE using 300 nM 17β-estradiol. The SynX-bearing strain TXYE was cultivated in shake flasks on the indicated carbon sources containing 300 nM 17β-estradiol (Estr.) or only the solvent DMSO as control. Samples were taken after 72 h. The endo-xylanolytic activity (a) and the endo-cellulolytic activity (b) were measured in the supernatants and normalized to the acquired biomass.
