VdtC, VdtF and VdtE are required to tailor the hypothetical alpha pyrone monomer produced by VdtA into semi-viriditoxin. vdtC, vdtF and vdtE deletion strains all failed to make viriditoxin, instead producing a set of viriditoxin-related metabolites. Comparing the structure of the compounds produced by each deletion strain to 1 reveals the role of each tailoring enzyme (differences colored)
