A) Complementation of the growth phenotype of the #41 and ΔugeA mutants by reintroducing the ugeA gene; B) Complementation of the sporulation defect in the #41 and ΔugeA mutants after transformation with the pAMAugeA vector; C) ugeA is required for growth on galactose and the inability to grow on galactose is restored by retransformation of the ugeA gene. Minimal medium plates in the upper row contain 25 mM glucose; lower row contain 25 mM galactose and 3 mM arabinose.
